An In Thing Poem by Francis Duggan

An In Thing

Self promotion in the twenty first century is an in thing
So many nowadays their own praises does sing
Though self praise is no praise the wise one does say
So many nowadays does not see it this way
The humble of mind does seem harder to meet
In a Human World where so many for success and attention compete
To your higher self you cannot hope to be true
If you feel there is nobody greater than you
The self obsessed i do find hard to admire
Of them and their boasting so easy to tire
In such a competitive Human World the down to earth are few
And this is not saying any thing that is new
This is how it is in the Human World of today
And this in itself seems a sad thing to say
