An Introspection Poem by Varghese Kuncheria

An Introspection

Joji Varghese Kuncheria
An Introspection

It's high time to do an introspection:
Are we right in the forefront to curb
The evil of hate in manifold forms?
To stand for, to speak, to act against.

Poets, 'We are the light of the world'
Let us shed light on this evil society
Together, let's combat all social evils:
Caste, creed, colour or anti-Semitism.

Is hate a psychological disorder?
Yes, for we are not created to hate.
As we are created in God's own image,
Love is inherent in us as God is love.

Likes and dislikes are humanly normal,
But hate is venomous, the root of evil.
The nature of hate is not from God,
It seeps up from the Evil, from the pit of hell.

Shying away from this social menace,
Would condone injustice done to humanity.
So let's take our armour, our poetry,
To fight against this social malaise.

Yes, we can do it; the pen is mightier than
Any polished weapon to fight this evil,
Which undercuts all civilized nations
And threatens our peaceful existence at large.
