An Island Poem by Benjamin Chiu Uy

An Island

I maybe an island, indivisible
Maybe myself, in spite of others, billion thatthrive like gems in the sparkling galore of stars at night,
In the day busy at life, at foods, bodily disposals of waste and interconnecting to others life.

Maybe an island yes because my sole thoughts
belongs only to my own conscience, belonging to everyone else, their sole property,

The physiognomycharacterized features of moles, molar records, type of skin color and shape of thenose.

Yet in spite of so many others, I have found a room, a space in this space, a inner sanctum in the breathing diaphragms of the lungs to count the seconds, minutes, meridians to a time of tenure, I maybe alive in this planet,

But events could never be foretold, nor life ever quantified, this sole survivors withaffiliationslike my wife and children are dear to me, and I care about them as much as I care about.myself.

You could say events, could alter curtail my plans,
But itmakes no difference,
The same for myself unto others on the same page of the sky,

We live in. sole, individual atoms, individual, mollusk stashed inside seashells on the shores hiding from the stormprotecting an individual sanctum

Protecting our unique individuality like an island.,
