An Ordinary Life Poem by Linda Barnes

An Ordinary Life

I wake up each morning
Phrases running through my mind
I can't wait to take a pen
And write them all down

I have not a clue
As to why I must write
But I have to write stories
Of my ordinary life

There are bits and pieces
That I want to tell
So that my loved ones
Will know I lived life well

I have been challenged
With mistakes along the way
Some pretty funny and some
I will always feel regret

I have loved so deeply
Lost many along the way
Accomplished and benefitted
With those whom loved me as well

My treasures are not wealth
But my children that I birthed
And their gifts to me simply
Are my grandchildren I adore

I am but a simple woman
Been extraordinary at times
But the simple truth remains
I lived an ordinary life
