Not Just A Woman Poem by Linda Barnes

Not Just A Woman

Rating: 5.0

Meeting her for the first time
Feelings of vulnerability
Her need to protect from harm
For those she holds dear

Willing to sacrifice her health
For that of another
Knowing the consequences
Were not in her favor

Allowing herself to live
Through the laughter and pain
Setting goals each day
Just praying for another year

Her smile so contagious
A laughter just as hearty
Through her strength and warmth
Her love was for others

To share a part of her life
Was an incredible honor
She was not just a woman
She has a name, and its Ellisa
