An Ox, A Hen, Ten Pigeons Poem by Emmanuel George Cefai

An Ox, A Hen, Ten Pigeons

An ox, a hen, ten pigeons
Together
On the farm they stayed by the casita.

But more than that.

For the casita loomed over a hill
Where lovely green his shrine has set
And the sun's smiles were continual guests.

And Night was magic.

More, more, animals and birds round the casita
Gathered in the light-supported dark

Stayed inhabitants all Night; dissolved at Dawn.
