An Unfinished Story Poem by Amitava Sur

My love my dream my fulfillment
Was with you
My paramount joy, my satisfaction of
Owning the universe -
I enjoyed when I was having you.

My life, my loudest heart beat,
And the seventh sky I found,
I was cherishing them all - with you only,
You were my morning's sweet breeze.

You were the golden rising rays
Or the mystic light beam in the night! !
You were my love my lust
My jest and the ultimate.

You were my dream, my adamancy,
You were my disease and medicine too.
My wickedness and my blood flow were you
You were my beginning and my horizon too.

But since you opted to leave in between
I cannot love, cannot live, cannot even die.
Can you realize o' my beloved - how unbearable it is,
Living but you?

Tears are flowing uncontrollably but valueless they are
Heart is crying and tearing apart but no listener is there …
How intensely I want you still
But cannot find you, cannot reach you anymore.

Words are murmuring in lips but cannot utter
No more can I see you, nor can make love or flutter,

You were in my dreams, in my toiling
You were in my joy or struggle.
We two knotted ourselves with a silken thread
So tight and heart to heart! !

Never you pained me or did hurt
Never we were apart since we two met
You gave me a heaven on this earth
Then what makes you to be away from me
And tore me apart? ?

Living now a goalless and unfinished life
I still get your smell,
I can hear those clinking sounds Of your bangles
Or ‘nupur' on your ankles.
I madly need you my dear, I need your divine love.
Don't forget me o' my dear -
Some one is dying for you being alive! !
