How sweet it is to meet the bright new day
and face the challenge of its shape and way
To feel the morning Sun upon your face
To breath good air and listen to the birds

How sweet it is to walk beside a friend
to share a word or simply feed the cat
And sweet it is in candle glow to share
a meal for two and drink a glass of wine

How sweet it is to climb a tree and reach
up to the clouds then stride across the
open sky, and climbing down to find you
are among advancing daffodils and think

How sweet it is that spring is here, and oh
how sweet the morning of this bright new year
