'And The Award Goes To...' Poem by Maxwell B Anderson

'And The Award Goes To...'

In due course,
the movie that seems to be,
Your life, will come to 'The End'
and close.Or,
so it would seem.
But don't let that dissuade you
from the best performance ever!
This time.

And when the credits roll
you can say that
To thine own self, you have
always been true, to your art.
Cause thats what you do.
'To thine own self be true.'

Like the sculptor,
smoothing out roughs
and the veins
to hone the subject to life.
Or with the pallette, the painter
designing colours and shades, you've got
To tell the picture right.

Strive for perfection.
It's cool! And all
'Nobody's', start out the same.
It's no shame
You've only got you to blame.
You'll get it right.
Yes you will.

It's A Rimbaud,
A Dali,
A Mailer,
A Scorcese.
It's another masterpiece, but it's yours!

It's A vision,
A Dylan,
A corporate decision and
Like a drunken General, you've got to live with
the outcomes that you'll have.

Stepping up there
to receive the award
don't choke with the acceptance
speech...You'll remember
to thank yourself, won't you?
Even if, you're the only
person you ever please.

Always be encouraged
by the smallest victories.
You'll be surprised,
the great effect they have.
To propel you to your goals
No matter how small.
They're still great! !
