And They Will Talk- Poem by Maxwell B Anderson

And They Will Talk-

I could be your 'time to spend'.
I could be your lovin' friend.
If only you'd 'let me in...'

And I would swear by the Eye of Horus
That you ain't got your desperate hands on a novice

The Seven Seas will swell up to discover,
that you and I haven't been 'secret Lovers',

but we have been Good Friends...

I don't like to be in compromised positions
Cupid's been dealing, hasty, 'love arrow' decisions.

Not trying to say I ain't attracted to ya.
It's just it would spoil anything we've constructed,

or that we love... Don't you think?

And didn't you already have someone in mind?
The 'Valentino' of your heart(so hard to find...)

His white stallion has been seen at your regal estate
and my Princess is somewhere too. I can hardly wait.

But people will still talk...

And in the transient world of romance and lovers
you dreamed your love story
It was graphic and less tawdry
than all this gossip

But then you knew they would talk
They dont think, we are just good friends.Oh well.

And I will dance on fires and hold your hand.
Cause our friendship might be difficult to understand

But they will see we are pure and will not burn...
