She covered her mouth when she smiled at cameras.
She hated her brother; and he hated her.
She got angry, blamed so-called trauma, but she knew otherwise.
But she never meant to cause any harm.
When she talked with her friends, she portrayed a dull ocean.
She never spoke too loud, again, always covered her mouth.
She prayed that her new life would drown out the old one,
But you can never fully bury your past.
She met another girl,
Sweet and kind and outgoing.
She hoped she could be a part of her life,
And soon they were best friends.
What she didn't know was that this girl
Had seen it all, every death, every life,
And the girl was watching her,
Every second, every day.
This other girl was smart.
Too smart for her liking,
So she got angry,
And stopped covering her smile.
"What a hideous face, "
"What a cruel thing to say."
She played victim, innocent,
While others stood there to scream.
So the young lady went and ran away.
She was open now, cracked open like an egg.
Everybody hated her,
So she ran away again.
She thought she could hide from the monster,
But monsters seek blood from within, not bandages.
She stumbled far into a safe place away;
And then she was devoured.
