And You? Poem by Nassy Fesharaki

And You?

And you?

Finally got me there
-to window; remember?
-we called it: "Our alley."

There, you sat as queen.
-I sat by my canvas, other side
-on easel, brushes, paints all kinds.

I drew the window as frame
-centred you in middle,
-your smile turned flame,
-flew high in the air
-and landed deep into my brain.
-I felt burned as forests of summer.

The wind of love and care
-blew hard raised, covered
-the format of canvas.

Same fume I could see
-when got there,
-and waited
-for you to appear.

I waited,
-and waited,
-and waited.

Window was dark nor a ray
-nothing but blankets of sadness
-to tell me you were there.

I waited
And waited
And waited

Finally, broken
-crossed road to your door
-lifted eye to ring bell
-saw the name and number
-all, been changed; differed.

Felt being the handle
-of grandpa's, mother'
-old, antique wooden cane.

Stumbled and fumbled and collapsed.
-Heard someone come close, question, ask:
- "Sir, can I give you hand? "

Before him I had heard loud laughter
-guessed was at my old and folded-back:
- "Is searching for penny! "

"Thanks dear…" said to one, with offer:
- "…go tell them…penny is too worthless;
-as can be millions…I search for what I lost
-seek gone years…want my life…for what is
-far behind, cannot come…for cheap talks
-that want to replace them with the right."

Too tired, thanks to age, I stopped
-demand of short breath, chest and lung.

Then again, as are the elderly
- egoist and selfish, possibly:
- "Gave to time, and in vain, uselessly
-what could be valuable; too early."

Where are you my flame?
-were we not too brave?
- (when in love and younger…)

Are you too, broken and wrinkled?
Are you to embarrassed and ashamed?
Do you live with the love memories?
Do you feel lost in time, and techniques?
Do you feel sorry for this lost herd?

How I miss the smile of your lips,
-and sweet warmth hidden in your kiss,
-and peeking and poking, constantly.

Do you too?
