And Zhirinovsky Answered On God Poem by Liza Sud

And Zhirinovsky Answered On God

'When you will come to God
what will you ask from him? ' -
This question was asked by Posner
to politician Zhirinovsky.

And Zhirinovsky answered:
'God, Let me go back!
I want to help people of Russia,
not relish in paradise! '.

In the wild woods, malnourished,
or half-naked in Siberia -
I want to help people of Russia
who suffer so intensively.

***

This is a very intense poem about a politician who realizes his office is one of service to others. This is the attitude our political leaders should have: not self-serving but people serving. The last stanza is especially moving with Z.'s concern for the suffering of fellow citizens. I too would want to support such a candidate who displays this compassion.
