Animals Of Night Poem by D.S. Bell

Animals Of Night

Rating: 5.0

I do like
Being awake at night
‘Till early morn'
‘Till the crack of dawn.

Where in my chair
I peer outside
And find out there
But one downside;

A thing
I would,
If I could,
Do away with;
If it were a thing to auction.

For now
It's on my side
For now
Signs of life have dried
And for now
The whole world
Eons ago
Died.

Life sleeps
Where such life resides.
But we animals of night
Do not hide
Our voices do not subside.
We are alive.
We are alive.

But so
Another night
Comes and goes.
But so
The time we despise
Creeps into view.

It's time to rest our head,
Close our eyes.
It's time for bed,
It's sunrise.
We despise.
We despise.

We despise sunrise!
