So long a year now
Had passed, half forgotten
What we've been through:
Gladness, sorrow, pain,
Suffering and joy, to
Which I've given my hand
In answer to what
Your days could remember,
And what my life
Could merely recall
A soul open-booked
For your laughter.
An offering in exchange...
Not my hand to give
But the whole of my soul
For this wonderful year
Of smiles and affection.
Though half-forgotten
This heart and gesture,
Feeling and spirit,
One thing is certain:
The love we held withstanding
To last another measure,
And alas, forevermore!
