Anniversary Poem by Krystyna Bargiel

Anniversary

Rating: 5.0

It has been nine years
Words lose their taste
They no longer wait
behind closed doors
nor do they occupy space

Rivers run
lost over rocks that
do not become smooth

The immense blue sky hovers
behind rain that never falls

Yes you are in the valley of death
with your quiet bones

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
My son was 29 when he died. I have started a memorial garden for him, adding bushes that ring of his manner. This is the first poem I have written since he died. Before that I wrote regularly and was part of a poetry group. He is not the only one with quiet bones. Maybe a spark can be ignited on his 10th.

Thank you so much for the poet's note. The poem comes alive when the notes make it more understandable. So sorry for your loss. Letting loose your thoughts with your poetry can indeed help. It seems that this is the first poem that you have posted to this website, so welcome to Poem Hunter!

An insightful portrayal of the anguish, and hopelessness occasioned by loss of a child; well articulated and nicely penned from the heart. I hope you'll always find courage to bear the irreplaceable loss. Thanks for sharing.
