Another Deception Poem by Shruti Goswami

Another Deception

The fact that
Deception is your middle name
Was never unknown to me
Yet the feelings
Of being deceived
Was as novel as could be
Sometimes it flared up
Like fireworks in the night sky
Sometimes it crawled in
Stealthily like death
That kisses a final goodbye
Sometimes it came like dark clouds
Out of nowhere in the clear blue sky.

The fact that
Deception is your middle name
Was never unknown to me
The fact that it hurt and killed
That my life broke into small pieces and spilled
And never was the same
The fact that I still smiled on
Working slowly but surely
On the games you supposedly won
To deliver the final deceptive blow
Is the fact to reckon with.
Deception shall be now
My sole crowning glory.
