Another Heartache Poem by Eric Pennington

Another Heartache

Have you ever took a shot in the dark?
Hoping that something you did would hit the mark?
Maybe the right sequence of words will do the trick?
I will never be the one she would pick.

I've done it again and laid my heart on the line,
And now all of you people get to hear me whine.
Why can I not just come to terms that it will never work?
I am meant to be unhappy in my search for love for ever.

This pain I've developed can be known by none.
I really like you, but you already like someone.
Which should really not be a surprise at all.
It's happened so many times, all I ever do is ball...

You not knowing is a greater pain than I can bare to take.
Me even thinking I could even have a chance was a mistake.
So my search continues for the one who will never be.
For the one girl who will love me for me...
