Ants Poem by JAMES T. ADAIR

Ants

The Ants
They're pretty organized and smart
The perform with scripted precision
Turn work into an art
Each strong ant carries many times their own weight
Scurrying busily with steady gait
Each doing their part
But I at a picnic noticed this peculiar trait
I placed a dollar bill on the ground and decided to wait
And in their infinite innate knowledge and instinct
Did not take the bait as we might think
Then marched right past the money
And went straight for the honey
As quickly as I could blink
Isn't it funny
The best thing in life isn't money
It's the sweetness, I agree
The ants came to the same conclusion as me!
The most wonderful things are still free!
