I awoke to a muted television,
With the sun setting it must have been at least seven o’clock
My left arm had fallen numb during my sleep,
I knew it was there yet the sensation trigged a strong response.
A wave of panic flooded my conscious
My entire body felt hollow,
My body and mind paralyzed.
I sprung from the bed and gripped the dresser.
With my hand to my chest I could feel my heart pounding,
The imagined sound beat loud in my thoughts.
I couldn’t understand what was happening,
Was this it.
Then came the mental imagery,
The thought of anything and everyone I know or have known not existing,
I didn’t think it, I felt it
