Anzac Spirit Poem by AngelLucianna Vesna

Anzac Spirit

Rating: 5.0

Lest we forget, our young went to War.
They went with dreams, hopes, and passion to save and to protect the unknowns at home.
They were awake at Dawn on this day in 1915, waiting patiently, eagerly, for the enemies to fight and to bring peace on this earth.

How could our young be prepared for war? The bloodshed, the fiercest troops. They were outnumbered, savaged by the dreaded desolated spot.
Gallipoli, they called it, rocky heights and thorny scrubs became their last sight.Hopeless, frightened, but with unspeakable bravery they kept going, until the 8000 mates gone and more than double that - wounded.

We sang advance Australian Fair back home, for now we must rejoice as we are young and free.We have golden soil and wealth for toil, and lest we forget these heroes who fought, we must remember their names and honor their stony graves. The women and men who armed with zeal, sacrificed to make our life abound. With love of this country and with their purist hearts.

Many poems and psalms had been written for these heroes, who were sons, daughters, brothers, sisters and spouse. They went with joy and fought for what they truly believed.Lest we forget those who had not returned, and those who came home injured and marred.Tortured and haunted by Nightmares until they finally passed.

This must remind us of how we must live each day, not just for ourselves, but for humanity and for those who are needy. We should not fret when life is a little stress, lest we may forget the strength and power we all have. The Spirits of our Anzac Heroes live on and we will continue to celebrate peace and freedom. We salute their braveryand their love for others, and for us.With honor and glory. Amen.
