Apathy Poem by Anil Kumar Panda

Apathy

Rating: 5.0

It was past mid night
There was silence
All around the town
The street lights hung
Like dead men's heads
Shedding pale lights

A freaky sound
Someone got killed
By a dagger or gun shot
May be a thief
Chased by cops

May be a bird fell
Dead on road with
A thud scarred by a
Prowling cat in dark

No one was sure
Till the morning paper
Had as head line printed
The old beggar sleeping
On the footpath was ran
Over by a speedy car
The driver was drunk
And bundles of
Currency by his side
