Apparently, I Will Never Give Up Poem by Shalom Freedman

Apparently, I Will Never Give Up

Apparently, I will never give up
Years of mediocre writing
Failure in recognition
Do not teach me the lesson of silence-

I go on
I will go on trying
Until I can physically no longer
Striving for the poem
That is the true poem
Writing to mean something
For whatever it means-

On and on
Older and older
To the grave
With the guts of a fool
Who does not have the wisdom
And perhaps the courage
To give up.
