“april Fool From Neil Armstrong” Poem by Munia Khan

“april Fool From Neil Armstrong”

Just a fun write to post on April 1st.

I’m here for sharing
My days of daring
From my 1969th file
When I was Neil over the Nile
With my bold legs - fragile
Arms: strong and agile!
I was there kneeling
To get rid of the feeling
Of dear Edwin’s buzz
From Apollo’s fuzz
Michael co-linking
When I was sinking
Into the lunar module
Conquering moon’s nodule
My moon landing mission
Still the latest edition
In this 21st century
(shuttle’s sanctuary)
I’m the man on the moon
Of April; not of June
I’ve left the earth
After my 82nd birth
Year of my last mirth
My footprints are worth
Peace on this planet
Eclipsing the gannet
In quest of a pond
On Mars and beyond
Earth-men still lurking
Never to stop working
To find ways to live there
When ‘world’ can only scare
Scare you with its missions
Of political conditions
No orbiting platform
To cure the dusty storm
Of those unearthly powers
And vague debating hours!
I’m freed to have left
As the earth: bereft
By fools of liars
Without cease-fires
And oh yes one more thing
To make a clear ping
I ain’t Neil by the way
Have an April Fool’s day!
