Artificial Poem by Paul Reed

Artificial

We have plumbed the very depths
Drank dry the well
Looked into every darkest corner
Rang the Domesday bell;

We have turned ourselves inside out
Drawn down the earth's blinds
Put ourselves in outer space
And bored into our minds;

A fraction of a grain of sand
To beyond the universe
Simulated our own existence
Beneath what is the worst;

Artificial mankind
Dancing a remote waltz
Living in a bubble
Synthetic, faux and false.
