Claude Monet was an 'atmosphere' artist
Whose colours depicted the time of day...
His Haystack paintings were proof of this
He painted them over and over again.
His snow-scenes were seldom in purest white
The snow reflected the shade of the sky -
Sometimes of blue, even violet or pink;
Sometimes of gold, as sunset drew nigh.
All artists consider atmospheric conditions,
Painting one subject in varying shades...
With shadows of morning through to evening
And such was the excellence of Claude Monet.
