As A Good Human Being Poem by Francis Duggan

For the remainder of his given time span
He just wishes to live as a good and an honourable man
And help anyone of his helping in need
Without expecting reward for any good deed

Self promotion for him has never been his thing
He leaves it to others their own praises to sing
Now as ever he never craves public esteem
His type in the World getting rarer it does seem

A down to earth bloke in every sort of a way
He always was what he is today
A stranger one can say to even local renown
Though there ought to be more like him in every town

You never see him carry or waving the national flag
Or of how great he is to others he never does brag
Yet he is one who is enlightened of mind
A person of empathy, caring and kind

From one in need of helping he never turns away
The man who performs his good deeds every day
To his higher self he is one who lives true
As a good human being to him credit is due.
