As He Prayed Poem by norman hale

As He Prayed

To the one God above
He asked for the guidance
To save his one true love

He talked to God
Like his father did before
Asking, to keep peace among man
From each distant shore

He asked God above
To help see him through
Through the darkest hours
As well as, when the skies are blue

He asked God above
Make sure his squaw was alright
As she lay there in labor
All through the night

As he prayed, the tears
Where running down his cheek
Tears of fear and sorrow
But, not a sign that he was weak

He prayed that his forefathers
Would help guide him on his way
And, his baby would be healthy
It would help others some day

He prayed for his wife
That she would stay healthy too
As he could hear her cries
He knew not what else to do

He prayed for his loved ones
For, he was their chief
As he kept on praying
He was feeling more relief

Yes, he prayed up to God
Pass the stars above
To send him guidance
As, he would help share the love
