As I Walk/Against The Pain I Try To Write A Poem

AS I WALK/AGAINST THE PAIN

As I walk
Against the pain I try to write a poem
I seek lines for what I see
The morning light the road in the distance
the green green green and the grey white also
But I too calculate each hopefully less painful step
And all in all go in a jumble
Trying to sing and think at once
And lost in the just going on
Walking and walking and waiting
To get home
Where I might write down a single line
Which I hope I will not forget
To begin a poem
I am now writing much later.
