As You Remember Who You Were Poem by Phillip Nine Mafunga

As You Remember Who You Were

Tha' muck of mud
As you remember who you were
An' wha' manner o' life you lived
Daily feasting on yuck
Your spirit stuck in the dark

Now you remember the bright star
That lit up your foot path
As the skies rained down blood
To the sinner, sin cleansing remedy
To the sick, balm from Gilead

The stone rolled'way death
As the sun rose bright 'n warm
Never to set to them that believe
But walk in the day light always
And stay in the light forever
