The boat you steer, the bed you make,
A simple truth, for goodness sake.
No magic words, no sudden whim,
But life lived out, from limb to limb.
Each phrase a story, deep and long,
Of joy and tears, of right and wrong.
Through passing years, they still hold true,
For me, for you, for all we do.
When skies grow dark and pour down rain,
The priest gets wet, that's very plain.
And drops then fall, a gentle sign,
Upon the clerk, straight down, in line.
