At A Fifth Floor Window Poem by Diana van den Berg

At A Fifth Floor Window

They were just
sunlit virgin clouds
in a clean sky painted baby blue
viewed from a fifth floor window
of a dingy office building
in a sleepy hollow town,
but I wanted so
to touch them
gently
so they wouldn’t
take fright
or dent.
