At Bottom

Doug thought of the warming
that's breeding females only
amongst a tropical turtle,
when in his wordbook he saw
thelytoky: the production
of only female offspring
from unfertilized ova,
from Greek thelys female
and tokos birth.

Before that, Doug had stated:
'The mother of plates is the earth.
As a result, smaller plates
are earthlets.
The earth is also the planet,
so a smaller plate is also a planette.'

'Further, ' said he,
'a plate in France is an assiette.
I'll leave it to thee
what the mother might be.'
