When I was a child I wept
I wept for the holy touch.
I cried because I sought in vain
The people who could matter much.
My world then was a void,
A lonely empty world.
I knew that I was out of place,
Disoriented in the world.
I looked to the books for peace,
Where letters of greatness showed
That love, compassion, brotherhood
In humanity flowed.
I thought I was disconnected.
Oh well- I was, and no!
The endless thirst then gave me pain
But it has been worth it all.
My thirst had led me to the stars,
My search has grounded me.
I am now a part of the Universe
I am in my Home and free!
