At Only 17 Poem by Ashley Measimer

At Only 17

At only 17,
We know of love and loss
And we know how much all of it costs.
We are left with so much responsibility
Yet too young to show it off.

At only 17,
We are as wise as our parents hoped we'd be,
We try the best we can.
We may screw up, and we may goof off
But we know the importance of what lies ahead.

At only 17,
Its time to start planning your life.
Its the time of classes, grades, tests and college prep.
When you don't know where you're going yet need to move ahead.
I'd have to stay the most stressful part of life
Is when you're only 17.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
I was inspired to write this because I am 17. Life as a teenager can be really stressful, and I've been going through these things myself.
