At The Circle Poem by RIC BASTASA

At The Circle

at the circle
which is so enticing
to be part
of those inside
it, i try to look
like one of them
as i arrange the
fold of my hair
put saliva on
my hand
to put some
gloss on my
skin and forehead

they all laugh
and i am too dumb
to understand
the reason why
they are all laughing

they say
it is funny
that i am funny
and i try to laugh
with them
in order to feel
that i belong

they continue laughing
and i begin to think
that they must be drunk
and i am the only
one sober

quite a positive attitude
to keep my
confidence
but no
they still keep on
laughing
and they they do
not even know my name
they're not interested
or if they are
only among themselves
in their own
witty world as i
think again and step
out from their
demarcations

and then
i smile going back
home
my own place
here with my own
limited confidences.
