Attempting To Live Righteously In A Godless World

Dear God, my days on earth are coming to a close!
The times I saw did help me keep my righteous ways;
The world ahead is horrible and ungodly;
How do my children keep the road to righteousness?

The laws that countries make are disgusting to core;
Money, the man-made master seems to gain more ground;
Society tries its best to ignore God's commands;
The world today affirms that man can do all things.

The way the modern generation lives is bad;
The eyes of youth are blind and ears can't hear the Word;
The sheep aren't happy to follow their Good Shepherd;
They love to go astray and graze in alien lands!

Most nations neglect God in every way they can;
Mankind forgets that life on earth needs God's blessings;
The holy cross is desecrated and defiled;
Man's faith in science has made his life bereft of God!

Do not unleash your wrath O God, we humbly pray!
More people live in sinful ways but do not know;
Correct them Lord in subtle ways, not by your rod;
O God of mercy, hold your wrath and rain your grace!
