August Bank Holiday Poem by Geoff Skellon

August Bank Holiday

August Bank Holiday

What shall we do today, Maggie?
Let's take the kids to the country;
Park in some deserted lane
And hope to God it doesn't rain
What shall we do today?

I'm tired of sitting at home, Maggie,
Sitting and watching the bloody TV
I want to feel alive again,
Walk in the wind and the pouring rain,
What shall we do today?

Let's go and visit a castle, Maggie,
Queue with the crowds at a stately home.
We could ride on an old Victorian train,
Look through the windows and watch the rain,
What shall we do today?

What shall we do today, Maggie?
Go to the pub or out to tea?
The kids are driving me insane
But the weather's cold and it looks like rain.
What's on the bloody TV?
