In The Swimming Pool Poem by Geoff Skellon

In The Swimming Pool

I saw you in the swimming pool
And recognised you straight away,
Despite the fact that you've grown fat
And your hair is going grey.

You had two children, quite grown up,
Aged perhaps twelve or thirteen.
Both of them looked just like you.....
Or me..... or maybe in between?

If you looked you didn't know me.
I was slightly under-dressed
Since last we met, and bald as well;
So if you looked you never guessed;

Never guessed that as our children
Swam and shouted in the pool,
I remained among the learners,
Hid my face, and felt a fool.
