Autumn Poem by Juan Olivarez

Autumn

Rating: 4.8

There's a crisp cool wind wandering bye,
Yellow and red leaves, flying around.
Rain laden clouds roll through the sky,
The wind in the trees makes a whispering sound.

Children walk up the leaf covered streets,
In painted faces and fantastic attire.
Some covered over with simple sheets,
Some roasting hotdogs, o'er a backyard fire.

Shouting and laughter, ring in the air,
As the children walk up knocking on doors.
Oh to be young and free without cares,
And to hold on to childhood, forever more.

And down by the field, fans raise the roof,
As the football team scores again and again.
They're playing like pros, and the fans all approve,
They would'nt even mind, a slight touch of rain.

Autumn is here, and with it arrives,
The best time of year in the U.S. of A.
Happiness beams from souls full of life,
Let Autumn remain, and forever stay.

6/10/10 29 palms ca.
