Autumn Tempest Poem by Francis Duggan

Autumn Tempest

Rating: 5.0

A mid Autumn storm a violent gale
Shrieks adown the lonely vale
Adown the grassy vale it roar
At speeds of ninety miles per hour or more.

It rushy through the gorsy glen
Where the fox sleep in his den
The scornful howling sound it make
Cause the sleeping fox to wake.

In leafy wood it puff and blow
And make the trees reel to and fro
And sing it's stormy melodies
On waving boughs of rocking trees.

Trees of beauty crash to their death
Victims of the winds fierce breath
Torn from their very roots laid low
By killer breath of tempest foe.

Like high powered super express train
It race through fields of golden grain
That stretches flat under the strain
Leaving the farmer to complain.

It whistles through village and town
Tearing expensive roof tile down
Leaving houses that wore a pretty dress
In an ugly tattered mess

And then it rain down come the rain
And the wind grow weaker and blow tame
And the rain takes over and the tempest ease
To a timid wind a harmless breeze.
