Avoid The Devious Gang - By St. Thiruvalluvar

451. The noble souls odious men fear.
But the devious ones crowd around as kinsmen dear.

452. The taste of water relies on the nature of the soil.
So does the wisdom of men on the clan they are a foil.

453. The mind makes human perception.
But whom you are is known by your friendship and its kind.

454. Man’s knowledge seems to be inherent in his mind.
But it results from the character of his companions.

455. One’s purity of mind and action
pertains to purity of one’s companionship.

456. The noble-minded will have progeny of a virtuous race.
And no evil deeds they from their associates face.

457. Wealth to all, Goodness of mind does give a raise.
But good society brings all kinds of praise.

458. A good natured mind greatmen may have.
Yet good company lends them glorious might.

459. The bliss of next birth ensures a healthy mind.
But a good society adds strength to it.

460. No cannier support is there than good company.
461. And no direr woe than clinging to gutter.
