Awaiting... Poem by Shona Cunnane

Awaiting...

Rating: 5.0

Weak limp stick of legs Struggle to move
The simplest of equations

Still cause trouble for these to calculate
I try; I raise, lift then lower

All the strength in my body fails to achieve the simplest movement
Frustration pounded my mind
My heart destined to achieve what was once a simple flick of a switch
You hold me guide my hand to the top

Your warm caring arm reaches around my right hand side
The comfort fulfils me with power that I need to succeed

You welcome me to the top
My goals you help me achieve,

What I did to deserve you
You put up with so much can no-longer walk, lift or dream to jump

But your there I know you still there
You guide me through the smallest step

How I long to repay you how your life would be easier if I’d gone
Yet you walk up order the lift and energy I need to keep me here 1 more hour

To talk to embrace what time we have left
Time is no match for emotions

You do more than love me you support my balance you are the only thing I need

Forget possessions, materials, and money
My life revolves around you

Yet I sit here no longer to move
Staring at you walking slowly to the counter

Still yet awaiting your return
