Awakening. Poem by dave lessard

Awakening.

Endurance is a facet of my being
a matter of pure and simple truth
that I neglected all my life
especially as a troubled youth.
Then I had no perseverance
little confidence of myself
then I hid from God and angels
stored them far away upon a shelf.
I was nonchalant, not an overcomer
just a drifter on the sea of life
unsure of actions and endeavors
floundering in a sea of strife.
Then I fastened on the book you wrote
God-breathed laws of right and wrong
and I grew, as a child of honest faith
and I heard a beautiful new song.
I discovered blessings are from You
now I know the greatest of all names
realized that life came not by chance
and soon I put aside my foolish games.
