Stepping Aside...
Why did you take away
the love I had for you?
killed the happy dreams
said that we were through;
buried all the sentiments
that made my days so blue;
made the rain come down
by things I never knew;
shattered all the plans
that we we're going to do;
fell off the primrose path
that we were headed to.
I have no ready answer
the time just floats away;
but I'm not go to beg you
to change your mind and stay;
you said you wanted change
and kept me far at bay;
wanted to think it over
wanted a brand-new day;
to ponder over things
let life come as it may;
so I sadly stepped aside
to let you find your way.
Most heart touching poem, loveliest rendered, sympathetically worded, lost love but luckily having not lost your personality, indeed if she was the one who broke the promise, no need to beg her back. Absolutely! Wonderful poem to read, a real treat, but bit pity, ii's all sadness and unhappiness. Thank you for this excellent poem. Most deserved as the Member Poem Of The Day. Hurray!
