Awakening Of A Child Poem by ann rta

Awakening Of A Child

Standing on wet, sand,
feet paddling into its embrace.
under a brilliant, sky
lit by a glowing, sun.
I was alone -
distanced from happy families,
sandcastle children.
Slow dawning
of the beauty of this life,
the reason for living.
I was crossing the bridge
into a grown-up world.
no fear or awareness
of what it might hold.
