I went to see a Doctor,
He was a clever chap.
He listened, looked, examined,
Pulsated, poked and tapped.
...

Tiger pads through the jungle
golden almond eyes
savage beauty in striped coat
one of few - survives.
...

While you were gone
I loved you.
You became good looking,
thinner, taller.
...

Spring, days lengthening and warming slowly
green shoots daffodils and gambolling lambs.
Summer, sunny and hot lazing in deckchairs
rambling roses blooming strawberries and cream.
...

It's here where the land meets the sea,
flat, wilderness, desolate in it's beauty.
Pebble-dash shingle, stretches, runs free
for miles and miles.
...

I stare in the mirror
seeing ravages on my face,
was I young once?
...

Looking on into the world,
withdrawn from its enticements.
Stand outside in another place,
silent, meditating.
...

Make a room a sanctuary,
a place of inner peace.
Blending colours to tranquilise
bringing quiet to your soul.
...

Mind in turmoil
Helplessness
Over-burdened
Ladened stress.
...

A slow line of donkeys crosses the wasteland
with hooded vultures riding on their bare backs.
Grey smoke rises from fierce flames burning in random fires.
Bleached bones of animals litter the decaying earth.
...

11.

Stray cat with scarlet mouth
haunting and prowling the night streets.

Shiny boots cling
...

You asked me a question,
And I'll tell you what?
It is better content
Than fed up with your lot.
...

Fly east my beautiful child,
To lands of temples and prayers.
Seek the meaning of life,
Climb up the golden stairs
...

Before I die I want to see
realms of gold and mystery.
I want to fly through the sky
to places different to my eyes.
...

Being alone in my room,
with my companions
quiet and solitude.
I reflect on the day,
...

Standing on wet, sand,
feet paddling into its embrace.
under a brilliant, sky
lit by a glowing, sun.
...

I search every man's face hoping it might be you
and every man's face I want to transform so that it is you.
I want to take a scrubbing brush and rub their faces away
and paint yours upon the blank surface that is left
...

I'll keep the curtains drawn tightly,
thank goodness
they're thick and heavy so
no dawn light will creep through them.
...

You braved the battlefields in France
and fought for freedom and the future.

You saw the unsung heroism of men
...

Limp as a fish lying on shingle
having fought to exhaustion
to try to stay in the salty sea.

Mr Hypochondria

I went to see a Doctor,
He was a clever chap.
He listened, looked, examined,
Pulsated, poked and tapped.

He sat me on the couch,
And asked me lots of questions.
What did I think was wrong?
Had I any good suggestions.

I thought it over carefully,
Before I spoke out my replies,
And then I told him thoughtfully,
What was leading to my demise.

He nodded very sagely
Agreed I might be right,
But did not want me worrying,
Working myself into a fright.

Though I wasn't very well,
I also, wasn't very ill.
All my aches and pains
Would go with a blue pill.

It has a latin name,
Placebo or placebain,
And gosh, it has worked wonders,
I'm now as right as rain!
