Aware Of Strength (By St. Thiruvalluvar)

471.Do a deed weighing its strength, strength of yours, foes
And allies on both sides before you do it.
472.Nothing is hard to achieve for those who weigh possible
things and the means of doing, and set their minds in them.
473.Not gauging their strength, many try to do things by zeal
And get spoilt in the midway.
474.Quick to perish he who is not in harmony with those around
Indulges in self-conceit by not measuring his strength.
475.The axle of an overloaded cart snaps with peacock feathers
If packed in mounds beyond the limits.
476.One who dares to climb atop the tree to its unbearable tip
Will make his effort put an end to his life.
477.Know the quantum of your wealth and the way to give others
As it is the way to live and preserve your wealth.
478.Even though the income is meagre, no loss to one’s wealth,
If the channel of outgoing wealth is not larger.
479.Life not measuring one’s wealth seems to mount
But departs nowhere to be found.
480.His beneficience that counts not his resources
Will run out his wealth soon to perish.
