Baby Girl Poem by Dolores Parsons

Baby Girl

As dear to me as a rose would be
That bloomed despite the cold,
Is my love for you, and our friendship too,
And I thought you should be told!

Because I don't think you realize
How precious you are to me!
That even when your one hundred and two,
My baby you'll always be! !

But, alas, you are a baby no longer,
But a lovely young woman, full grown.
And with that beautiful baby,
You and casey created,
You've a family all your own.

Dear Lord, I don't think I'm ready
For my 'Baby Girl' to be,
So grown up, mature and responsible.
So less, in need of me!

And when I think of all that you are to me,
I realize in the end.
Your more than just my 'Baby Girl'!
You're also my very best friend!

And even though I knew the day would come
For you to spread your wings and fly!
I never imagined how hard it would be
To have to say good-bye!

But even the miles that separate us,
Can never keep us apart! !
For we WILL forever be together
In eachothers hearts! !
