Baby, I Love You Poem by Jennifer Sollmann

Baby, I Love You

Broken glass littered the floor
I stared at the maroon pool
Glass boats floating about
Numb
For once
I didn’t feel the pain
The pain of losing you
The pain of ending you
The pain of breaking you
The pain of loneliness
A slight blur settled
Among my thoughts
The pretty glass boats
Fascinate me
Baby, I don’t know how
I don’t know why
But somehow
I don’t need you
I want you
You’re a forgotten letter
And just before
The curtain closes
The darkness settles
Your beautiful eyes
Remind me
I can’t escape the pain
It’s always there
And one more thing-
Baby, I love you
